Matte White Cup features a generously rounded body, remarkably thin walls, and a distinctive angular handle. Its soft matte white glaze complements the delicate surface carvings, creating a refined, contemporary silhouette that balances simplicity in form with intricate craftsmanship.

With a capacity of approximately 10.5 oz (310 ml), this cup is well suited for coffee, tea, and other everyday beverages.

Each piece is made through a combination of moulding, hand forming, and carving. The carved patterns vary individually, making each cup unique in appearance. The photographs show two available pieces, each with its own distinct surface design.

About the Matte Series

The Matte Series is an experimental collection by Yu Bingyou, exploring delicate forms, exceptionally thin walls, and intricate surface carving through the use of Zini clay and matte glazes. Originally developed as a temporary exploration of ceramic techniques, the series was discontinued in September 2026. Only remaining inventory is available, and no further restocking is expected.

Curator's Note

What I appreciate most about these cups is the combination of remarkably thin walls and carefully carved surface patterns. The two pieces have completely different carvings, giving each its own character despite sharing the same shape.

I particularly like how the soft white finish makes the carved details more visible. To me, these cups are a lovely example of Bingyou's craftsmanship, especially the care taken when working with such thin clay walls.

The Matte Series was discontinued in September 2026, and our remaining pieces will not be restocked. The photographs show the two individual cups available. Please feel free to email us for additional photographs taken in natural daylight.

Caring

Dishwasher safe. An additional rinse cycle may be necessary to remove detergent residue, as porous ceramic surfaces can retain detergent and absorb odours.
For hand washing, use a soft sponge and mild detergent if needed. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue.
A small piece of natural loofah sponge is particularly recommended for cleaning corners and fine details.
Avoid abrasive cleaning tools and harsh detergents.
