Mr. Hattori Tatsuya 服部竜也 was born and raised in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture—a place where clay, pottery wheels, and kilns are simply part of everyday life.

From playing in the park to walking to and from school, ceramics were always present in his surroundings. Because they were so familiar, he had little interest in pottery until after graduating from university. However, once he began working with clay, it immediately felt like a natural fit—and that path has led him to where he is today.

His goal is to create vessels that can be used comfortably in both Japanese and Western settings.
