Each piece is made through a combination of moulding, hand forming, and carving, with subtle variations in form, texture, and finish that reflect its handmade character.

About the Matte Series

The Matte Series is an experimental collection by Yu Bingyou, exploring delicate forms, exceptionally thin walls, and intricate surface carving through the use of Zini clay and matte glazes. Originally developed as a temporary exploration of ceramic techniques, the series was discontinued in September 2026. Only remaining inventory is available, and no further restocking is expected.

Curator's Note

What I appreciate most about this cup is its remarkably thin walls and the delicate carving across the surface, especially considering its generous size. The contrast between the rounded body and angular handle is also something I particularly like.

The Matte Series was one of Bingyou's temporary experiments, discontinued in September 2026. Our remaining pieces will not be restocked.

As with all of Bingyou's handmade pieces, subtle variations are expected. Please feel free to email us for additional photographs taken in natural daylight.

Caring

Dishwasher safe. An additional rinse cycle may be necessary to remove detergent residue, as porous ceramic surfaces can retain detergent and absorb odours.
For hand washing, use a soft sponge and mild detergent if needed. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue.
A small piece of natural loofah sponge is particularly recommended for cleaning corners and fine details.
Avoid abrasive cleaning tools and harsh detergents.
