Compared with the newer version, this classic boat plate sits slightly higher at the centre and has a more traditional profile. The newer version dips lower in the middle, giving it a deeper, more boat-like shape. The difference is subtle.
A boat platter—also commonly called a fish platter—is found in almost every Chinese household. It is the natural choice for serving a whole steamed or braised fish, but its simple shape works for many other dishes too. I have even seen a Korean-Chinese chef use this type of platter to create a striking noodle presentation divided into three sections.

1. Durable and made for everyday use, but gentle care will preserve its beauty.
2. Dishwasher safe; not suitable for microwave or oven use.
3. Metal utensils may leave marks on the matte finish; gently remove them with toothpaste and a soft cloth.
4. Heavy stains caused by insufficient cleaning may be treated by soaking with baking soda or white vinegar, then rinsing thoroughly.
